Discovery Miami Beach offers up a new way to do the tourist thing.

It’s that time of year again—time to entertain those out-of-town guests who want to see all the hotspots of South Beach (that you’ve seen umpteen times). Now you can make it less of a chore thanks to Discovery Miami Beach’s self-guided audio tour that showcases 29 of the most noteworthy places in South Beach’s past and present. Direct your guests to the Art Deco Welcome Center at 1001 Ocean Drive, where they can sign up for the four-hour tour that spans 29 iconic SoBe destinations—among them, the former Casa Casuarina, one-time home of Gianni Versace, and 5th St. Gym, once the training base for Mohammed Ali. The tour can be taken on foot or by bike, car or double-decker bus, using a map and a state-of-the-art media player, in English, Spanish or Portuguese. Eight locals with first-hand knowledge of the city’s inner workings narrate, among them historian Seth Bramson; artist Romero Britto; public historian for the Miami Design Preservation League Jeff Donnelly; Matti Herrera Bower, the current and first Hispanic Mayor of Miami Beach; and Tara Solomon, former “Queen of the Night” columnist for The Miami Herald. Tickets can be purchased at the Miami Beach Convention Center Visitor Center, DecoBike Kiosks and through various hotel concierge and rental partners throughout Miami Beach.
